Doug Garley was tragically hit by a car whilst training near Clunes back in 2012, he had moved to Ballarat from Melbourne, racing with both the Ballarat/Sebastopol and Eureka Veterans cycling clubs.
Doug was a mate to everyone he came in contact with, always seeing the positive perspectives of any situation. His passion for bikes and the people who rode them we will always remember, chatting to anyone who needed help and advice or coaching, especially junior cyclists.
Once again this year we have a retro ride taking in some of his favorite Ballarat roads.
Doug had many friends far and wide and we welcome everyone wishing to come along this social ride. Old steel bikes & wool/retro tops are the theme once again but not a must, new bikes are fine.
The ride will start from the Western Hotel and head out to the east of Ballarat, and as requested by many last year there will be a little bit more dirt but nothing a normal road bike won't handle. We will have stops along the way to re-group for the not so fit, and the course is roughly 65km.
Hope to see you all there!
Leaving time is 930am from the western this Sunday 3rd May
