We hold our track races, for riders of all ages and abilities, each Thursday afternoon between October and April.  Please check the on-line calendar for precise start times. Please click HERE for a map showing the location of the track.

All riders, BSCC members or not, are always very welcome at all BSCC events. Generally speaking, the more riders there are in a race, the more interesting the race is, to watch and to do, so come one, come all! If you're in town, or passing through, and one of our races takes your fancy, please come along, whether or not you're a member of a cycling club. As we explain below, we cater for a wide range of abilities.  The only firm requirement is that you hold the appropriate Cycling Australia license. This rule exists for all Cycling Australia-sanctioned events in Australia, and it's to make sure you have the appropriate insurance, in case of an accident to you or to another competitor or official. License options are explained HERE.

We run all our club track racing in grades, based on ability, rather than in age groups.  So we use the model you might have seen at Ararat or at DISC on a Thursday night when Northcote runs racing.  Grades typically include A grade to F grade.  F grade typically starts at 4 PM each Thursday - check Latest News and the on-line calendar - and races rotate through the grades. All races will be properly officiated, and qualified commissaires will be in attendance. Because we understand that the younger riders get to the track earlier we will not begin A or B grade until later in the afternoon.  Seniors races typically start about 5 PM. Once we get into full swing it is anticipated that all riders will get at least three events. Racing will finish by about 6.45 PM.

The club now has more than 55 track bikes available for hire or loan. From brand new Hillbricks and Avantis to some pretty dodgy looking old steel machines - we have a bike for you.

Track racing is cycling at its most basic and pure: no cars, no trucks, no brakes, no gears.

There are gearing restrictions for younger riders.  They are explained in this document: Gearing for your track bike
