Why join the Ballarat-Sebastopol Cycling Club?

By becoming a member of the Ballarat-Sebastopol Cycling Club (BSCC), you are supporting the club in organizing events for its members. BSCC offers memberships in a number of cycling disciplines, including road, track, cross-country mountain bike (MTB), and soon bicycle motocross (BMX).  

Cycling Australia (CA) is the governing association responsible for managing road and track racing.  Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) is responsible for all forms of mountain biking, and BMX Australia (BMXA) is responsible for BMX racing. Each of the different associations require their own membership (don't get us started ...), but you only need to pay your BSCC membership fee once per year. CA is the ruling association, so if you are a member of CA that will entitle you to discounts at the another associations, MTBA & BMXA.  

Membership of any of the associations includes insurance, which covers you any time you are participating in a sanctioned cycling activity (including all club races), as a competitor, official or volunteer .

Cross Country MTB (MTB Australia)

BSCC (and MTBA) offer two different membership types, Racing and Social.  For the majority of MTBA-sanctioned events, a Racing license is required. However, BSCC hosts a number of social rides during the year that only require a Social MTBA license.

There are two different methods of signing up, we encourage everyone to use Option 1 as it only takes a few minutes and you are given your MTBA Number immediately, while it can take up to 10 weeks with option 2.:

1) go HERE to the MTBA website and use the online sign-up page (accepts credit cards)

2) print off a copy of the MTBA form, fill it in and send it, along with payment (cash or cheque only) and all proof of other memberships (ie photocopy of CA membership card) to Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club, or give the completed form and money to David Tannard at Bicycle Centre Ballarat. 

Race Licences

(#) - if you already have a Cycling Australia or BMX Australia licence, a 'Value Add' MTBA race licence costs $50.
 

Social Licences

(*) - A day permit ($20) is needed to compete at any MTBA races (at any level, club to national race)
